Mammoet finished a factory to foundation project, assisting a client in completing the replacement of a R-101 vessel at their plant in Southern Alberta, Canada. The client is a manufacturer of agriculture fertilizer and industrial nitrogen.
The vessel was constructed in Austria. Mammoet transported it to its destination, using a variety of transport modes such as river barges, sea vessels, and rail cars.
Once the vessel arrived in Alberta, Mammoet removed the old R-101 vessel, weighing 904,000lbs, or 410 metric tons. A LR 11350 crane was deployed; at the time it was the biggest crane available in Canada with a boom length of 126 meters and maximum lifting capacity of up to 1,350 metric tons. It was needed because of both the old and new vessel needed to be lifted through the roof at 72 meters height.
Mammoet worked around the clock to prepare and execute the lift and supported the client to minimize their downtime. Mammoet safely installed the new vessel within 2.5 hours. The client was pleased with Mammoet finishing this Factory-to-foundation project one day ahead of schedule.
