Ruthmann has announced that it will launch a new 31-meter Bluelift spider lift, the SA31.

The SA 31 will have a dual sigma type over center riser, a four section telescopic boom, and articulated jib, providing a maximum outreach of 17.5 meters with an unrestricted 120kg platform capacity, while 14.5 meters of outreach will be possible with the maximum capacity of 250kg and 15.5 meters with 200kg.

The overall width of the new machine will be just under a meter, with an overall height of around two meters. Further specification details will be released closer to the launch date.

When this new product will be launched is still anyone's guess - might we see a prototype at Intermat? Ruthmann has a track record for teasers and spoilers and announcing new models when they are still at the early development stage.

Could the recent announcement of a new 33-meter Hinowa spider lift have encouraged the company to announce its plans now? or is it the arrival of the larger Palfinger branded Palazzanis?

The fact is that the Italian manufacturers that already dominate the sub 26-meter spider lift market are looking to extend hold to the 30 to 33-meter market. Ruthmann Italia/Bluelift and Hinowa will be joining fellow Italians Platform Basket, Palazzani, CMC and Multitel Pagliero which are already active in the 30-meter market, which will apply pressure on the current big players in the sector - Teupen, Omme lift, and TCA/Falcon.

It may well help expand the overall size of this market, although possibly at the cost of pulling prices down.
