A luffing jib tower crane collapsed earlier today at a high rise site in Bangkok, Thailand, killing four and injuring five others.
The incident occurred at the Lumpini Park Riverside project, on Rama III road, in central Bangkok, where two apartment blocks are being built by LPN Development. The superstructure of one of the two cranes on the project broke away from its tower and dropped to the ground, striking the fifth floor on the way killing two men working there, then landed on the second floor where another two died. At least five others are reported to be seriously injured.
The incident is under investigation and at this stage we have no further information. We will update if and when we learn more.
