A crane overturned 11th Feb, 2019 morning in Voorthuizen, the Netherlands due to the operator slewing over the side with full counterweight and raised retracted boom without sufficiently extending the crane's outriggers.
The crane, a four axle Liebherr All Terrain owned and operated by rental company Barneveldse Kraanverhuur was due to carry out a lift on a housing estate in Voorthuizen – midway between Amersfoort and Apeldoorn - when it went over.
The crane was set up by a new roundabout, the operator had partially set the rear outriggers then raised the mainly retracted boom and slewed over the side, causing the crane to predictably tip rearwards. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.
